Case study – can I save a failing blog – update 2

Last month in July 2021 I decided to try and save a blog I started last year and totally neglected. I did absolutely nothing with this blog for months.

When I decided to try and save this blog at the start of July (month 11), it only had a total of 13 posts on. I managed to add 6 articles and ended July off with 19 articles.

In August I only managed to add 4 new articles, so now the total articles on the blog is 23.

Pageviews for August 2021

As you can see, nothing impressive happened in August. My pageviews did grow a little from July to August. Last month it had 220 page views for the month and August had 307 page views ( that’s about 39 % growth) so at least we’re going in the right direction.

Impressions also went up from 1.98 k in July to 2.63 k in August, so hopefully Google is starting to pick up more of my articles.

I only had 7 clicks to my website from organic search, that’s terribly low, but at least 2 more than last month.

The average position of the articles is also starting to improve, I just hope that it keeps it up. I still only have one article in the top 5 search results.

Income

Not a big improvement in the earnings of the site, but it’s to be expected with the page views still being so low.

Last month the blog made $ 0,21 cents and in August it made $ 0,24 cents. Only 3 cents up from last month. Nothing to write home about. The only thing that’s worrying me at this point is the low EPMV (earnings per thousand visitors) it’s only at $ 2,11.

Hopefully the EPMV will increase as the blog improves. I can actually understand that Ezoic’s ad testers doesn’t have a lot of data to work with, with such low page views. So I’ll keep an eye on this one, and I’m excited to see where this can go and if I can save this blog.

My plan to save this blog

My plan for September is still just to add more content. I have a lot of other projects going on at the moment, but I’ll have to crank out a lot of good articles if I want to make a difference on this site.

Here’s a quick recap: I added 4 articles in August and now have a total of 23. Ten of these articles are under 2 months old, so it will probably need a few months start to rank on Google.

Page views for August was only 307, earning me a total of $ 0,24 cents from Ezoic.

You can check out the site here, and let me know what you think and if you have any feedback.
