If someone asks: How much do bloggers make? The answer is generally: It depends.

So the best way to answer this question would be to look at examples of actual bloggers, what they do and how much each one makes.

Is blogging a good side hustle?

Blogging can be a great side hustle, but just like any other job you should consider if it is the right choice for you.

Why do people start a blog?

Blogging offers a lot of flexibility. You can set your own schedule and work on your blog whenever and wherever you like.

The start up costs are low. You can start a blog with very little money, the basics are all you need to get started: get a domain name and good hosting and your all set to go. Personally I like to bootstrap my new blogs, and use a free theme and free plugins, I can always decide to upgrade later when the blog is starting to make money.

The passive income potential. Now this doesn’t mean sit back and watch the money roll in. Passive income generally means you do the work up front on something that has the potential to pay you later, even when you’re working on something else. Blogging is a lot of work, but as you go, the blog posts start to add up and all your previous posts still brings in traffic to potentially earn you money. So the more you write, the more your traffic should grow.

Things to consider before starting a blog

    • It takes time to build an audience. It can take months or even years to build up traffic to your blog and generate a significant income from it.
    • Treat your blog like a business. Consistent effort is important, you need to consistently produce high quality content to keep your audience engaged.
    • Blogging income can be uncertain and unpredictable. Your income vary from month to month, so it is difficult to predict how much you will earn and by when.

Overall, if you have a passion and drive, you can succeed and blogging can be a very rewarding side hustle. Look at it like this – If you are willing to put in the time, love and effort in the short term, you will reap the rewards in the long term.
